According to surveys by J.D. Power and Associates, rising fuel costs are having an effect
on sport-utility vehicle sales. Power Information Network (PIN) reports that sales of
full-size SUVs have dropped dramatically this year.
They were off 21 percent in February
and down 31 percent in January. Fuel prices are currently averaging more than $2 a gallon
nationwide, and analysts say prices will likely exceed $2.15 per gallon if the trend
continues.
