Ford has agreed to pay $51 million to settle a group of state legal claims from rollover
accidents involving its popular Explorer SUV. Although Ford has denied there are any
problems with the Explorer, it still agreed to pay the fine for each of the 50 states, as
well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, which sued Ford over the Explorer.
This
settlement does not eliminate individual personal injury or wrongful death lawsuits. It is
believed that several hundred are still in courts.
