Ford will stop making the Excursion SUV in September, according to sources within the
company. Ford sources also had said, in 2002, that the Excursion would be dropped, but it
got a reprieve. The Excursion will be replaced with an extended version of its Expedition
SUV.
Additionally, Lincoln’s Aviator will be replaced with a car-based SUV in 2006,
according to a Lincoln spokesperson, who declined to say exactly when production of the
Aviator will stop.
