Ford is recalling a large number of 2003-2004 E-150, 250, 350, 450 and 550 models because
hot particles can ignite the air-filter element, resulting in under-hood fires.
Ford will
replace the filter element for free. Approximately 253,000 vehicles are affected. In
another recall of these models, a short circuit may occur in the ABS module diode, in which
case the ABS warning light comes on, the module overheats and may catch fire in some cases.
Ford will add a fuse to the circuit, and install a heat shield on the module. Approximately
215,000 vehicles are affected.
