Ford will recall approximately 140,000 2005-model Five Hundred/Montego sedans and 2005-06
Freestar minivans for a problem with side-door latches.
The National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) said the reason for the recall is because door latches in the
vehicles may let in water and could freeze, preventing doors from closing securely.
Ford
also will recall 6,164 Escape Hybrids for potential driveshaft problems. The shafts could
fail, allowing the vehicle to roll even in “Park.”
