Ford Recalls Over 700,000 Vehicles

Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 700,000 pickup trucks and Mercury minivans
because of possible fuel-system defects that can result in fire. The recall involves
275,000 Ford F-Series trucks built from December 1992 through August 1993 and 435,426
Mercury Villager minivans built between November 1991 and June 1998. The light-truck recall
includes F-150, F-250 and F-350 pickups with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks that are
popular with trailerists. It’s related to problems with a fuel-pressure regulator. The
Villager recall is due to a fuel-pipe vent hose that may crack and leak. Although Ford
states there had been no reports of accidents or injuries involving any of the recalled
vehicles, there is a potential for fuel leakage and fire. If you own one of these vehicles,
check with your Ford dealer if you have not received a recall notice.
