Ford Might Sell Mazda

Rumors have emerged that Ford is trying to sell its stake in Mazda, which is about a
one-third share. Ford executives reportedly have been told to plan on selling at least part
of Ford’s ownership in Mazda. Although there is said to be no deal at this time, Ford is
reported as having approached up to 30 companies about selling shares, including Japan’s
Sumitomo Corp., Itochu Corp. and Denso. The portion of Mazda that Ford has is worth an
estimated $1.3 billion and Ford needs the money.
