Navistar, the company that builds diesel engines for Ford Motor
Company, announced it is writing off part of its investment for a V-6
diesel that would have been used in vehicles such as the new Ford F-150
pickup truck.
The two companies had an agreement in which Navistar was to supply
V-6 diesel engines for upcoming F-150 pickup trucks, Econoline E-150
vans, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators.
Introduction of these engines has been delayed beyond model-year
2004, and it is not known if the program will be revived.
