Ford’s next-generation Lincoln Aviator and the upcoming Ford Edge will
be powered by a new powertrain 3.5-liter V-6 that is rated at 250 hp and
240 lb-ft of torque. The all-aluminum engine, which will be mated to a
new six-speed automatic transmission, should offer an average
7-percent-higher highway mileage than the current four-speed.
This new V-6 and six-speed combination should find its way into a
wide range of models, including the Ford Five Hundred and Mercury
Montego. The engine also will be used in Ford hybrid powertrains.
