Select Ford dealers have begun selling the company’s new 2002 TH!NK neighbor low-speed
electric vehicle this fall in Sun Belt states, and will expand to key Northeastern states
next spring. Engineered entirely by Ford, the zero-emissions electric vehicle represents a
flexible transportation solution for campgrounds, planned communities and resort living.
The vehicle is powered by a 72-volt motor, fully independent suspension and rack-and-pinion
steering. By plugging into any 110/120-volt household outlet, the battery can be charged in
six to eight hours. The vehicle will have a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 30
miles. Two- and four-passenger models are available. Price will be less than $6,000. In
January of last year, Ford Motor announced the purchase of TH!NK, a brand dedicated to
environmentally responsible products.
