Folding Padded Club Chair

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

This summer has been consistently warm and sunny here in Minneapolis. The warm weather has created plenty of opportunities for grilling, camping, sporting events, family gatherings and trips to the lake. Through all of these activities, I’ve found there is one accessory that is a must-have … a good, all-weather, collapsible chair!

I recently got a folding chair that blows all of my past portable chairs out of the water. Made by Maccabee Sports, it’s called the “Padded Club Chair,” and it’s as comfy as portable folding chairs get. I’ve already toted it to campfires, backyard get-togethers and pool parties this year. I also have a few camping trips planned, and I’m confident this will be the most popular seat at camp. The Club Chair’s enveloping design also helps to block wind and blowing debris.

The Padded Club Chair weighs in at 16.3 lbs., so it’s slightly heavier than your run-of-the-mill folding chair, however, the added comfort is well worth the additional ounces. It’s also a bit more bulky than your run-of-the-mill folding chair due to it’s extra padding. It’s not a chair that I would recommend for any sort of backpacking or rugged camping excursions, but if you set up a tent next to your car or camp out of a trailer/RV, then this is the folding chair for you. It’s durable enough to keep in the back yard and looks good enough that you could use it inside when extra seating is needed.
