Both refined and retro, Toyota’s new FJ Cruiser takes its styling cues
from Land Cruisers of the past, but ergonomics and amenities definitely
come from the present.
With a maximum tow rating of 5,000 pounds and a payload of 1,325,
the Cruiser is no poser. Power is provided by a variable-valve-timing
version of Toyota’s proven 4.0-liter V-6, which is rated 239 hp and 278
lb-ft of torque and requires premium fuel. Choose from a six-speed
manual gearbox or five-speed automatic; four-wheel drive is optional.
Hidden rear swing-out doors offer access to the rear seats for a total
of five passengers.
Base price is $23,905, with typical equipment expect around $28,000-$29,000.
