Elkhart’s Dometic Deal

Dometic Corporation is seeking to move production of an RV refrigerator manufacturing
facility from Sweden to Elkhart, Indiana, in an exchange for a 10-year property tax
phase-in for the company. Should the resolution pass, the move would initially bring 180
jobs to the RV capital, with an eventual estimated 241 full-time jobs by 2012. Dometic’s
facility would be located within a 50-mile radius of 70 percent of its customer base,
helping the company to serve its customers in a more efficient and timely manner. Dometic
plans to sponsor a job fair in September to begin the hiring process, and operations could
be in place as early as November this year. Dometic already has a presence in Elkhart with
about 60 employees in sales, marketing, financial and warehouse operations. For more
