SUV prices slid for the third straight month in May, according to
Edmunds.com’s Price Index for new vehicles, which measures trends in
average retail pricing.
Both large and luxury SUVs registered a 2-percent retail price
drop from April levels, while overall new-car prices dropped 0.8
percent. Large and midsize cars, however, both registered nearly a
1-percent increase.
Edmunds blames gas prices for the high level of rebates.
