DuPont reports that silver remains the world’s leading vehicle color;
however, in North America, rich shades of medium-dark metallic gray
increased significantly in popularity. In the North American luxury
segment, that color soared from sixth place last year to the lead color
choice in 2003. Medium-dark metallic gray moved up four places to become
the third most-popular color in the full size-intermediate segment.
Red surpassed blue in the latest survey, all of which may indicate
that there may be some major changes in future automotive colors.
Medium-dark green has dropped out of the top-10 colors for luxury
vehicles, although it still maintains moderate gains in the
full-intermediate, and the SUV, truck and van segments.
