Dodge is recalling approximately 600,000 model-year 2000-2003.5 Dodge
Durango 4×4 SUVs and Dakota pickups to replace front upper ball joints
that may wear out and fail prematurely. Dodge will extend the warranty
to 10 years or 100,000 miles on the suspension upper ball joints on an
additional 400,000 2000-2003.5 Durango and Dakota 4×2 vehicles.
Repairs will be made for free and owners of vehicles covered by
this recall who have previously made the repair will be reimbursed.
Several crashes but no injuries due to the problem are in the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s investigation file.
