Dodge Recalling 701,000 Ram Pickups

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that
DaimlerChrysler is recalling 701,000 Dodge Ram pickup trucks of the 1994-99 model years due
to hood latch problems. The recall is because of corrosion of the return spring on the
secondary hood latch, which could cause the mechanism to stick in the release position. If
the primary hood latch is not engaged, the hood could pop open unexpectedly. Trucks used in
the Northeast or Midwest areas, where corrosion rates are higher from the use of road salt
during winter, are more seriously affected. Dealers will replace the secondary hood latch
for free.
