A new study by Synovate, a market-research company, found that 37
percent of American consumers are willing to consider buying a flex-fuel
vehicle (one that runs on straight gasoline or E85, 85 percent
ethanol). However, when these consumers learned that there is about a 25
percent drop in fuel mileage with E85, about a third of them lost
interest in flex-fuel vehicles.
This information came from Synovate’s latest semi-annual survey of
consumer attitudes conducted among 1,240 buyers and those intending to
buy new vehicles.
