According to a recent study by TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, 51
percent of the 1,011 adult Americans surveyed earlier last year agreed
that diesel engines are not the under-performing vehicles that they used
to be, and perceptions of diesel have improved over the years.
In addition, TechnoMetrica found that 50 percent of consumers
surveyed agreed that diesel vehicles are more fuel-efficient than those
of comparable gasoline engines — a jump from 38 percent in 2004. As
consumer awareness of diesels’ fuel-saving benefits continues to
improve, so will consumers’ adoption of the technology.
