Day Dreamer

Forest River has expanded its Cedar Creek fifth-wheel offerings with the addition of a new
upscale line called the Day Dreamer. The 39-foot triple-slides are being offered in just
two floorplans, but Cedar Creek’s sales manager, Craig Clair, says that is all they need
right now to keep Cedar Creek owners when the urge to move up strikes. “Day Dreamer,” says
Clair, one of four Cedar Creek product managers who worked together in developing the new
model line, “represents the pinnacle of what we offer. The moment a customer steps inside,
they’ll get the sense of walking into their residential home.” Clair says the Day Dreamer
theme of “taking your home with you” is literal in the sense that the interior decor and
furnishings are far more residential than fifth-wheel. For example, Clair points out that
every cabinet in the new model is built from ash by a custom home cabinetmaker. So are the
bathroom, bedroom and closet doors. Another feature of the Day Dreamer is the use of Amana
stainless-steel kitchen appliances, including a 15-cubic-foot frost-free electric fridge,
and sealed burners on the 30-inch cooktop. “Stainless-steel appliances are standard in the
Day Dreamer, which gives the kitchen the feeling and usefulness of a residential setting,”
says Clair. “In addition, the new 37RLTSD model will feature the kitchen area as part of
the slideout, giving it a spacious country-kitchen appeal.” Carpet is also upgraded from
the typical Cedar Creek offerings. The Day Dreamer floors are covered with plush,
residential-grade 32-ounce carpet instead of the more typical 28-ounce variety found in
lower-level models. “We wanted to give this new model the quiet, relaxed feel of a nice
home,” Clair says. Adding to that quiet residential interior ambiance is the use of roof
air-conditioning units that have a ducted-air return, thus reducing or eliminating the
noise caused by A/C units that use a shroud through the roof. Clair says this is the first
time this type of residential roof-mount A/C has been offered on a Cedar Creek. Another new
offering is electric-hydraulic disc brakes instead of drums. Forest River says the new
brakes are stronger, smoother and safer, providing 50 percent better stopping power than
standard drum-brake systems. For those who want their trailer to match their tow vehicle,
the special Day Dreamer graphics can be color-matched to any tow-vehicle factory-paint code
as a no-charge option. “Day Dreamer is that ‘move-up’ product that the experienced RV
buyers have been looking for in Cedar Creek RVs,” Clair says. “A nicely equipped Day
Dreamer will retail for about $75,000.” Forest River Inc., (260) 593-2404,
