Chrysler Recalls 11,000 Minivans

Chrysler has been telling 11,000 owners of its new minivans to stop driving them until it
can fix a defective bolt in the suspension. Chrysler said the recall affects model-year
2001 Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan, Chrysler Voyager, and Town and Country minivans built
between March 22 and April 21. The minivans were built with a bolt on the lower control arm
in the front suspension that could break, leading to a loss of control. The company
reported it had received six complaints from customers about the defect, with no accidents
or injuries. Chrysler’s dealers will tow the vehicles in for repair, and offer loaner
vehicles if necessary. Owners can determine if their vehicles are affected by looking for a
sticker on the edge of the front driver-side door that has the date of assembly printed on
it. They can also write down the vehicle’s identification number (VIN) and call the company
at (800) 853-1403.
