Carriage’s Domani DF302

Carriage’s new line of Domani fifth-wheel trailers blends marine influences with the latest RV styling cues to wrap you in the type of class that is sure to make the Domani a hit among those who like to socialize. As soon as you extend the slides, hook up and survey the campground with a satisfied grin, your fellow campers will be lining up outside the door awaiting their chance to join the party.

And who could blame them? Our test Domani had the optional full-body Sandstone Champagne paint, the industry-first color-matched TPO roof and a set of 20-inch tires on optional American Racing alloy rims that are chrome-plated for that extra touch of class.

Carriage’s Domani line features three 29- to 32-foot floorplans, and our test fiver was equipped with a number of options, including the Onan 3600 Micro Quiet AC generator, that contributed to the total weight.

Floorplans in the Domani lineup include plush curved lounges and sofa seating, multiple skylights, a flush-floor streetside slideout, a sofa bed, a queen-size bed housed in a second streetside slideout, a spacious bathroom and a red-cedar-lined wardrobe. Our test fiver, the Fresco DF302, offers a rear galley with a plush U-shaped lounge occupying the streetside slide and the dinette, including a removable table and wrap-around sofa occupying the curbside of the main living space.

The open feeling of the Domani’s main cabin is enhanced with the cherry-veneered curved cabinetry and liberal use of windows and optional skylights. The master suite provides plenty of space on both sides of the queen bed, which is canted at a slight 15-degree angle from the streetside wall. The bedroom continues the nautical styling with a curved bulkhead that wraps around the curbside portion and a forward wall full of storage, including a hanging closet lined with red cedar.

The curved wall of the bedroom is an essential element that leads to the spacious bathroom surroundings. The toilet itself offers plenty of legroom, and the rounded shower enclosure features a rich-looking marbleized finish and curved-glass door that slides open for access.

Our weekend jaunt in the Domani left us wanting more time with this easy-to-maneuver fifth-wheel: more time enjoying the spacious lounge that passes for an RVer’s big room and, most importantly, the feeling of knowing we were staying in the coolest fiver in the campground.
