California Backs Off EV Rules

California has proposed an easing of rules regarding its electric-vehicle (EV) mandate due
to the lack of major advancements in battery technology. The proposal kills the requirement
for vehicle manufacturers to make 10 percent of their fleet electric-powered vehicles,
which was supposed to be phased in by 2003. That’s good news for trailerists because
electric vehicles have very limited range and virtually no towing capability.
