J.D. Power and Associates recently released the results of its annual “Vehicle
Dependability Study” that measures quality during the first three years of ownership. After
Toyota’s Lexus brand has been the leader for more than a decade, Buick surprised everyone
by tying the top spot with Lexus. Although Buick’s high scores were with the Rendezvous SUV
and Century sedan, which are no longer made, J.D. Powers reports that Buick is doing well
with the Enclave crossover and Lucerne sedan in initial quality surveys. General Motors
Cadillac division also placed in the top five finishers, and Mercury finished behind Buick
and Lexus. The latest survey included more than 53,000 participants.
