Mercedes Considers Diesel on M-Class SUV

Mercedes is considering a V-6 diesel option for its 2006 Mercedes
M-Class SUV. It likely will be a 3.0-liter engine, available some time
in 2006. Emission laws in some states may prevent the engine from being
sold there, including California and New York. Initially, two engines
will be available on the wider and longer ’06 M-Class SUV: a new 268-hp,
3.5-liter V-6; and a 302-hp, 5.0-liter V-8.
