Toyota May Offer Diesels in U.S.
Toyota Motor Corporation executives told the press at the 2007
Detroit Auto Show this month that there is a good possibility Toyota may
introduce diesel engines on its vehicles sold in North America. Toyota
is said to be testing diesel engines sold outside the United State to
determine the feasibility of meeting EPA emission standards.
Dana Sells Trailer Axle Assets
Dana Corp., which has been operating while in bankruptcy, has
announced that it sold its trailer axle manufacturing equipment,
inventory and other assets. The buyer is Hendrickson USA LLC, a
subsidiary of The Boler Company.
Tire Date Stamp Changes
Tire manufacturers will be required to print the tire’s date of
manufacture in an easy-to-read, four-digit code on the outside of tires
by September 2009. The manufacturing date is currently printed on one
side of the tire, but the coded number is difficult for most consumers
to read and is often facing inside when the tire is mounted.

according to a 2005 study commissioned by the Recreation Vehicle
Industry Association (RVIA), Reston, Virginia. That’s nearly 8 million
households — a 15-percent increase during 2001-2005 and a 58-percent
