XM Satellite Radio to Add Services

XM Satellite Radio plans to begin offering real-time, video-based
weather alerts for in-car access within 18 to 24 months. Additional
services under study include Parking Link, which will help subscribers
find parking in major metropolitan areas. No launch date has been set
for Parking Link’s launch.

Stability Control Saves Lives

A recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
concluded that electronic stability control (ESC) reduces the risk of
single-vehicle rollovers of SUVs by 80 percent and 77 percent for
passenger cars. Additionally, fatal crashes were cut by 43 percent. The
IIHS says that if all vehicles had stability control, as many as
10,000 fatalities could be prevented each year on the nation’s highways.
