New Chrysler SUV Is Named Aspen

Chrysler’s new full-size SUV will be named Aspen, according to a
report in the Detroit News. It will be a version of the Dodge Durango
seven-passenger SUV sharing powertrains, slated to arrive at dealers
next year.

2006 Ram Gets Fuel-Saving System

For the 2006 model year, Dodge’s Ram pickups with the HEMI engines
will get cylinder-deactivation technology. The system shuts off fuel
delivery to half the engine’s cylinders when less power is needed. Dodge
claims a gain in fuel economy of up to 20 percent.

Got A Hemi?

DaimlerChrysler launched a new edition of www.Hemi.com
that is expanded to include the 6.1L version. The Web site has updated
articles, photos, history, specs, and new multimedia features —
including Hemi sounds. There are also vintage photographs and
biographies.

NHTSA Investigating Expedition Wipers

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports
it is investigating whether windshield wipers on Ford’s Expedition are
defective. Approximately 650,000 vehicles could be affected from the
1999-2001 model years.

Driver Will Circle Globe in KIA Sorento

Kia Motors has announced that Swedish driver and adventurer
Christer Gerlach will drive a Sorento SUV around the world. Gerlach will
leave Sweden in August and drive across Europe, Russia and Siberia. His
travels will then take him across the United States to follow Route 66,
ending in New York before returning to Europe.
