Blue Ox’s Light Bar

The increasing dimensions of contemporary motorhomes definitely
contribute to greater overall comfort while on the road — but once you
get where you’re going, they aren’t always the best choice for cruising
narrow local streets and hunting down interesting destinations. That’s
what makes a dinghy so valuable — but not everyone is at ease with
modifying wiring systems, while others may not want to splice into the
wiring harness of their towed vehicle to accommodate the necessary tail-
and brake lights.

An easier option is a light bar. Granted, you’ll have to stow
it safely away when not in use, but it simplifies lighting requirements.
According to Blue Ox, the company’s new Light Bar easily fits into any
2-inch receiver on the dinghy (an available adapter fits 1 1/2-inch
receivers), with the twin arms adjustable to provide coverage for any
dinghy-vehicle width. The unit’s four-wire flat male plug connects with a
26-foot-long supplied cable to tie into the motorhome’s 4- or 6-pin
connector (black wire ties are also included to secure the cable along
the dinghy). Finished in black powder coating for durability, the Light
Bar is said to fold easily for storage; extensions and adapters are also
available to increase applications.
