Ford to Add Diesels

Ford has confirmed that it will be installing a new optional
4.4-liter turbodiesel in its 2010 F-150 pickups and Expedition SUVs. Now
comes word that the engine will also be offered in Ford E-series vans,
Lincoln Navigator SUVs and the Super Duty version of the F-series
trucks. Output is said to be about 9 percent higher in horsepower with
15 percent more torque than the 5.4-liter gasoline V-8.

Ford Tests F-450 Harley-Davidson Edition

An automotive spy photographer working for Brenda Priddy recently
spotted the 2009 Ford F-450 Harley-Davidson Edition being tested. For
about $60,000, buyers will get a dual-rear-wheel pickup with a curb
weight of around 8,700 pounds and a 24,500-pound tow rating, powered by
the F-450’s 6.4L Power Stroke diesel V-8 engine.

GM Closing Plants, May Drop Hummer

General Motors has announced that it is closing four North
American truck plants and might sell its Hummer brand. This is due to
slow sales of trucks and SUVs in response to higher fuel prices that GM
sees as a permanent problem. Chief Executive Rick Wagoner also said GM
was reviewing the Hummer brand and could sell the division.
