Amazon.com is selling new cars and trucks online at its Web site. Its online car lot allows
surfers to compare models and costs, contact dealers, get a loan and make a trade-in deal.
At first, the new service will be available in 27 areas around the country.
J.D. Power
& Associates predicts that within five years, 80 percent of car buyers will use the Web
in some way during the vehicle-buying process.
