Purchasing a fifth-wheel trailer with the features you want at a price you can afford isn’t
always an easy task. Many manufacturers lure you in with what appears like a bargain at
first — but as you examine the equipment list more closely, you begin to realize that many
of the most attractive features are extra-cost options. Western Recreational Vehicles (WRV)
has introduced a line of fifth-wheel trailers called Voyager that address that very
problem. With a laundry list of standard features, the goal was to give potential buyers
the features they want, forgoing the sometimes confusing process of picking and choosing
options. “Our catch phrase for the Voyager line is, ‘Choose your floorplan, choose your
fabric and choose your destination,'” said Dave Woodall, marketing assistant for WRV. “We
took some of the best features of top-range products like the Limited and Villa and
incorporated them into the Voyager — which effectively simplified the ordering process.”
Up to now, notes Woodall, WRV had a gap in its product line. At the entry level, there was
the Aspen. At the high-end, there was the aforementioned Limited and Villa — but there was
nothing in between. The Voyager, available in five floorplans from 31 to 34-feet, fills
that void. The entry-level model 31CK shown is one of four floorplans with three slideouts.
The CK designation means “Center Kitchen” which, in this case, is equipped with an L-shape,
polished solid-surface countertop, brushed-nickel pull-out faucet, stainless-steel sink,
Amana sealed-burner range and oven, an over-the-range microwave, a pull-out pantry and a
Dometic 8-cubic-foot double-door refrigerator. Solid-maple cabinetry and brushed-nickel
accents abound, and in the opposing slide, there is a four-place dinette table and sofa
bed. All the way aft are fabric Flexsteel swiveling rockers, and on the curbside is a
smaller slideout with a computer desk and overhead home-theater system with a flat-screen
television and an AM/FM/CD/DVD player. Walk up the steps into the bedroom, and to your
left, you will find a large neo-angle shower with skylight, and on the right, a private
bathroom with a china toilet. A 60 x 80-inch lift-up queen bed is housed in a streetside
slideout, and on the curbside there is a lavy with solid-surface countertop and dresser. A
large wardrobe is located all the way at the front. Other features include day-night shades
throughout, a 10-gallon water heater, in-floor ducted heat, a 15,000-BTU air conditioner,
pass-through storage and an enclosed, heated underbelly. Optional equipment consists of a
Kingdome satellite dish, a central vacuum system, a basement slideout cargo tray, Ride-Rite
air suspension, a 5.5-kW LP-gas AC generator, a 100-watt solar panel and a disc-brake
system. “The Voyager is perfect for folks who are looking for residential appointments, but
want something that is easier to handle,” says Woodall. “There are a lot of places you
can’t take a 36-foot trailer. The Voyager is a little smaller, but it still has all the
features of a larger trailer and is more affordable, too.” Western Recreational Vehicles
