10-Minute Tech: Never Without a Vise

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

I made a bracket on which to mount a swivel vise. The bracket is made with 2-inch square tubing and fits in a standard 2-inch receiver. I used a 19-inch steel tube coming out of the receiver squared up to a 13-inch tall vertical tube. For support, I welded an 11-inch long sheet steel bracket at an angle between the two pieces. On top of the vertical piece, I welded on a 6-inch square plate, in which I drilled three holes to mount the vise with 3/8-inch bolts. Don’t forget to drill a 5/8-inch hole on the long horizontal piece for the pin in your hitch receiver.
