10-Minute Tech: Maintenance Minder

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

I just bought a new truck and expect to give it the same care and attention that permitted me to get top dollar for my old one. It’s really simple. My maintenance schedule is based on a 3,000-mile interval reminder.

Using a label maker, I first make a strip that reads: “Next service check due.” This I affixed permanently to the face of the vehicle speedometer lens in a position where it does not block any instrumentation. Then, I just print out the mileage at which  I will undertake necessary maintenance and position it below the first label.

After each service has been completed, I peel off the old numbers and replace them with a newly oriented label showing the next mileage interval at which maintenance will be due.
