Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen comprehensive, in-depth videos of the Storyteller Overland Grand Bohemian and the GXV HILT adventure truck. Now, the Alabama-based vehicle manufacturer is back with a new video, this time taking us inside its biggest, baddest, and most intriguing rig of all—the aptly named Storyteller Overland GXV EPIC.

Like the GXV HILT, the GXV Epic is an adventure truck purpose-built for overlanding. But while the HILT rides on a Ram 5500 chassis, the EPIC utilizes a repurposed Kenworth 4×4 platform powered by a 6.7L Cummins diesel engine that generates 660 lb-ft of torque mated with an Allison six-speed automatic transmission. The rig features a massive 200-gallon fuel tank, King off-road shock absorbers, 44″ Bridgestone L315 heavy-duty tires, a 20K Comeback winch, and an exclusive 4WD system with locking front and rear differentials and a low and high range transfer case. In other words, this is a full-fledged expedition vehicle designed to take you just about anywhere you want to go.

As you would expect from Storyteller, the inside of the GXV EPIC is well designed, comfortable, and luxurious. It comes with two beds, including a queen-size mattress in the primary sleep space and a four-person dinette that converts to a guest bed. The rig comes with the usual features, like a well-equipped galley kitchen with dual-burner induction cooktop, a residential convection microwave/air fryer, a stainless steel sink, solid surface countertops, and a high-efficiency refrigerator. But, it also includes its share of surprising additions, like washer/dryer combo, an onboard water purification system, and dimmable, programmable LED lighting. The truck even features a full wet/dry bath complete with cassette toilet, a spa-like shower, and a sink.

Built for four-season exploration, the GXV EPIC is outfitted with a powerful HVAC system comprised of a 15K BTU Truma Aventa air conditioner and 65,600 BTU Aqua-Hot hydronic heater. An 18kWh house battery provides power while wandering off-grid, with a 24V alternator charger keeping the power cells full while in transit. The truck comes with a 1980W solar panel array and a 4500W high-capacity inverter that keeps the high-efficiency appliances running even when unplugged from shore power. An Onan 6000W auto-start diesel generator offers additional power whenever it’s needed.

Just reading a rundown of the specs for the Storyteller Overland GXV EPIC doesn’t do this vehicle the justice it deserves. The video above provides a full, more comprehensive look at this amazing rig, which is a turnkey solution for overlanding and boondocking adventures. Considering everything it offers, it probably comes as no surprise that it also carries a hefty price tag, with MSRP starting at $749,784. But for the customer who is looking for a highly capable off-road adventure vehicle, that price feels spot on for what Storyteller has delivered here. This isn’t an RV for the masses, but it is one compelling blend of capability, technology, and engineering.
