Pebble Hits Major Manufacturing Milestone, Pushes New Features Via Software Update
The software-defined travel trailer continues to redefine the future of RV camping.

Pebble, the company behind the all-electric Pebble Flow travel trailer, announced that it hit a major milestone over the past few weeks. The company says that it has now shipped more than 100 RVs, a number it has hit after just one year of production, which is a significant achievement for a relative newcomer to the RV space. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, owners have also logged more than 250,000 miles on the road over that time, demonstrating how the high-tech towable is redefining the future of camping.
“The Pebble Flow started as a bold idea to reimagine a legacy industry. Three years later, more than 100 customers are experiencing a new way to RV,” Pebble CEO and founder Bingrui Yang said via a press release. “We’ve moved beyond that first build. This milestone reflects the work of our team and the early customers who believed in something new. Every mile our owners travel helps us improve the Flow, and every future customer benefits from what we learn.”

The Pebble Flow first arrived on the scene a little more than three years ago as a bold vision for how technology, engineering, and design could work together to change how we camp in an RV. Like EVs from Rivian and Tesla, the travel trailer is a software-defined vehicle, meaning it can be fine-tuned and improved over time via over-the-air updates. To that end, the company has collected data and feedback from its customers regarding how the rig performs and what features they’d like to see in the future. The result is a smart RV that continues to evolve and improve, as evidenced by two new features that are now available via an OTA upgrade.
The first of those features is called “Boondocking Mode,” which gives owners granular control over power consumption in the Pebble Flow while camping off-grid. To access this new mode, owners simply open the Pebble app, where they can then conserve energy by setting timers to automatically turn off lights, appliances, and power outlets. A new Energy Meter tab also displays real-time power usage and energy generation via the rig’s 1.1kW solar panels. The travel trailer also gains a new HVAC Eco Mode, which intelligently lowers energy consumption by only running climate control when the interior gets above or below specific temperature settings.

The second new feature coming courtesy of the latest software update is a new mode that grants access to the travel trailers’ array of onboard cameras. Owners can live stream what’s happening around their rig at any given time through the app, with Founders Edition models showing all four sides independently, plus a composite view of each of the cameras at the same time. Magic Pack Pebble Flow owners can use the same feature to view the rear-facing camera, with an option to unlock the other views should they choose. The camera mode works both while in transit or when parked.
“Our strength as a team is that we are managing hardware and software under one roof. When we encounter issues, we can fix them fast. That is something the RV industry has never experienced before,” says Pebble Chief Technology Officer Stefan Solyom. “ We’re energized by accelerating manufacturing and getting more customers on the road. The Pebble Flow that our newest customers receive is dramatically improved from the earliest units, and with more OTA updates and deeper AI integration, it will only get better from here.”

These new software updates bring added benefit to users, with a nice bump in capabilities to the RV that they already own. This demonstrates the value of a software-defined vehicle—be it an RV or an EV—with considerable value added to consumers after the purchase. Boondocking Mode and the new camera views join Pebble’s Scout AI assistant, which provides help troubleshooting issues, guidance for using the Pebble’s features, and motoring capabilities for onboard systems. It was released a few months back and further demonstrates the appeal of an integrated platform that can be updated and improved over time.
