When it comes to camper van platforms, the Ram ProMaster has often felt like an afterthought, trailing behind the Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit in terms of popularity and availability. But over the past few years, Ram has put in a lot of work to make the ProMaster a more attractive offering, giving it more features, a roomy interior, and improving reliability, all while maintaining a level of affordability compared to the competition. Now, the automaker is taking things to the next level with the introduction of the ProMaster Vanlife variant, which comes with a host of features squarely aimed at the RV market.

To be clear, Ram hasn’t officially announced the existence of the ProMaster Vanlife edition just yet, but it was uncovered by Car and Driver through an online configuration tool. The discovery was later confirmed by a C&D source at Ram, who shared further details of what the company has in the works. Essentially, by selecting the “Vanlife” variant, buyers will get a set of features that were previously available but had to be added independently to a build. The new option bundles everything together, which ultimately saves both time and money.

So what does the new model bring to the table exactly? The ProMaster Vanlife option is available on the 2500 and 3500 chassis with a 159″ wheelbase and a high roof configuration. It comes standard with swiveling front seats, LED headlights and fog lights, a second-row window behind the driver, a sliding door with a window on the passenger side, and rear-hinged back doors. A black appearance package is also included, giving the van a black Ram logo and grill, along with special exterior badging and 16″ wheels. Buyers also get factory-installed auxiliary switches and a built-in shelf located above the roof trim.

According to Car and Driver, the Vanlife package costs $4,995, giving the 2500 model an MSRP of $60,320, while the 3500 will start at $61,366. Both versions come with a 276-horsepower 3.6L V-6 engine with automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Additional options, like the tech-focused Premium Convenience package and Leather Interior Group, will add to the final price.

While we don’t know when the new ProMaster edition will go on sale just yet, it is good to see Ram continues to refine the van to meet the needs of its customers. This new variant makes it easier than ever for van builders and RV manufacturers to get the features they want—at a reduced price no less—which should only make the ProMaster platform even more attractive to buyers. Currently, the 2026 ProMaster lineup is still being shown on the Ram website, but expect a refreshed version that includes the Vanlife model in the next few months. It looks like it will be worth the wait for anyone planning a build-out of their own.
