If you’re a frequent attendee of the Overland Expo Events, or you’re just looking for an amazing cross-country adventure, we have quite the story for you. It seems that Hipcamp has joined forces with the Overland Expo organizers to create a cross-country adventure route that links up all of the OEX gatherings that take place throughout the year, while also sharing places to camp—with current pricing—while en route. The road trip even passes through some iconic locations along the way, including several national parks

The Hipcamp x Overland Adventure Route officially starts in Costa Mesa, CA, home of Overland Expo SoCal. That event already took place back in March, but it remains a staple on the OEX calendar. From there, it’s on to Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, AZ (May 15-17) and then on Overland Expo Pacific Northwest in Redmond, OR on June 26-28. Next, the backtracks some on its way to Loveland, CO, where Overland Expo MTN West takes place on August 21-23. Finally, the road heads to Arrington, VA for the final OEX event of the year, Overland Expo East on October 23-25.

The route is designed specifically with overlanders and RVers in mind, with the path passing by some excellent campsites along the way. Naturally, Hipcamp shares all the locations to park your rig while making this cross-country journey, with quick links for making reservations. It should also be pointed out that much of the route passes through US Forest Service and BLM land, which often have free locations to camp overnight.

The list of national parks, forests, and preserves that the Adventure Route visits is impressive. If you drive the entire thing, you’ll pass through Joshua Tree, Mohave National Preserve, the Grand Canyon, Craters of the Moon, Dinosaur National Monument, Rocky Mountain National Park, the New River Gorge, and Shenandoah. That’s quite a few bucket-list destinations checked off on one go, making this one breathtaking journey pretty much start to finish.

“For a lot of people, the real Overland Expo adventure starts on the drive in and continues long after the event,” Hipcamp CEO and founder Alyssa Ravasio said in a press release. “We built the Adventure Route to help overlanders discover incredible campsites near each expo and on every road trip in between.”

As part of this collaboration, Hipcamp will be appearing at every Overland Expo event this year. That includes the upcoming OEX West, where the campsite discovery platform will host a community camp for the duration of the show. The Adventure Route also shows dedicated Hipcamp collections near each of the expos and event-specific Overland Expo microsites, too.

The route will be especially interesting to vendors and dedicated OEX fans who attend every event throughout the year. But it is also a great resource for those of us who only make it to one or two of the events each year, providing good intel on where to stay and places to visit along the way. Check out the full map here and visit the Hipcamp and OEX websites for more information.
