Winterization Tip: Drain Your Tanks and Hoses
Protect your RV’s plumbing system by thoroughly draining all of the water from your holding tanks and hoses. As an added measure, be sure to add RV antifreeze to prevent ice buildup.
Snowbirding Hack: Forward Your Mail to the Campground
If you’re snowbirding this winter and planning on forwarding your mail to your location, be sure to check the campground’s policies regarding mail delivery. Most long-term RV parks are happy to receive and distribute mail to their guests, although some may charge an additional fee to do so. Alternatively, a temporary PO box in the city or town where you’re visiting is another convenient way to receive your mail while on the road.
Winter Towing: Adjust Your Trailer’s Brake Controller for the Conditions
The best option is to avoid towing your RV in winter conditions, but if you do find yourself out on the road in snow and ice, adjust your trailer’s brake controller to its lowest setting. This should help prevent slipping and sliding, allowing you to maintain control. If extra stopping power is needed, adjust the settings to a slightly higher level.
Spec Sheet: What is GVWR?
GVWR stands for gross vehicle weight rating and is the maximum weight that a vehicle can operate as specified by the manufacturer. For any RV, the GVWR is the most the rig should weigh when fully loaded with gear, supplies, water, cargo, and passengers. Check your owners’ manual or or VIN door tag for for the exact number for your rig.

Winterization Tip: Charge Your Lithium Batteries
If you own an RV with lithium house batteries and are storing the rig for winter, be sure to completely charge the batteries in a warm environment, then disable any built-in heating systems before disconnecting them until spring.
