Good Sam Road Trip: Louisiana’s Bayous and Beignets

Take a drive through some of the Pelican State’s most exciting communities

This itinerary takes motorists from small towns to the bustling Big Easy. While the scenery changes, the spirit of Louisiana remains consistent, with outdoor adventure, live zydeco music, and delicious Cajun food on tap. Simply click on the icons indicating the stops on the itinerary.

This Good Sam Road Trip starts in Monroe, and follows US Route 165 through lush countryside. Make a stop at the Prairion Bayou Recreation Area, home to the Poverty Point State Historic Site. The leg between Alexandria and Baton Rouge takes motorists through charming small towns like Bunkie and Mamou. When passing through Opelousas, check out the Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino.

Motorists can drive on Interstate 12 between Baton Rouge and Tangipahoa Parish, then take Interstate 55 south to New Orleans. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
