First of Its Kind: Palomino Creates Truck Camper with Fold Out Patio
This innovative model pulls out all the stops with unique and interesting features.
Truck-camper manufacturer Palomino—known for innovative designs—has introduced several unique features in its new HS-2912 model. Additions include two doors for accessing the interior, an outdoor entertainment center, and an industry-first, fold-out patio.
The 8-foot by 7-foot deck stows securely against the back of the camper when not in use. Upon reaching the campsite or destination, it can quickly fold down and into place, suspended off the back of the HS-2912 by a pair of heavy-duty cables.
The patio can support up to 1500 pounds and is accessed from inside the camper by a dedicated door located at the back. On the outside, a pair of gates at the end of the deck allow RVers to come and go, while a fold-out awning provides shade on sunny days.
Adding a patio to the HS-2912 was an engineering achievement in its own right, but it brought other design challenges, too. For instance, owners required access to the camper’s interior without lowering the deck at each entrance and exit. Palomino solved this problem by adding a second door on the side with an integrated Moryde StepAbove system to make it easier to climb in and out.
Other amenities include an outdoor entertainment center on the deck that features a TV and refrigerator. Additional covered space comes courtesy of a larger, second awning that runs along the side of the camper. Inside, Palomino included a small kitchen, sofa, and washroom. A lofted queen-size bed serves as the sleeping area.
The HS-2912 is also outfitted with a 45-gallon freshwater tank and twin 20-gallon gray and black water tanks.
The HS-2912 is reportedly priced at $41,500 and is expected to go on sale soon. For more information, visit the Palomino website.
