RVing and camping rank as the safest travel option for 2021  according to a new travel study conducted by polling firm Abacus Data. The study highlights the impact of COVID-19 on American travel plans for 2021. According to the study, 66 percent of respondents consider RVing and campy as “not risky.” The study also revealed that 94 percent respondents mentioned “doing something safe “as a top priority for vacation plans.

“Our survey results show that Americans consider RVing and camping almost twice as safe as other types of accommodations such as staying in a hotel,” said David Coletto, CEO of Abacus Data. “We are also seeing that 66 percent of Americans consider camping in an RV of little to no risk compared with 38 percent who feel the same way about flying on a plane to a destination.”

Additional insights from the survey include that the likelihood to take a road trip this summer is up 6 percentage points, while intent to fly, stay at a hotel, go on a cruise, or even stay at friends or family residences are down. The study also found that the majority of respondents (52 percent) consider RVing as one of the only safe travel options during the COVID pandemic.
