Pirates Cove, a pirate-themed water park in Burleson, Texas, is teaming up with the nation’s top water safety and training organizations to present the 10th Anniversary World’s Largest Swimming Lesson to build awareness about the importance of teaching children how to swim. Created by the World Waterpark Association, the global event is supported by water parks, swim schools, YMCAs and other aquatic facilities. The free swimming lesson is hosted by Pirates Cove neighbor, North Texas Jellystone Park, and is one of 700 similar events taking place around the world on the same day. The lesson is open to kids and teens through age 18 and is designed to teach children how to swim to help prevent drownings.

Registration for the North Texas Jellystone Park lesson is open to the first 400 children who sign up and each participant must be accompanied by an adult who joins them in the swimming pool. The swimming lesson will take place at 8:30 a.m. on June 20 at Pirate’s Cove Water Park, 2461 S. Burleson Boulevard in Burleson. The water park features four activity pools, a 750-foot-long lazy river, 11 waterslides and shaded indoor games.

Swim instructors will be provided by the Aqua-Tots Swim School and the Sigma Swim School, part of a community drowning-prevention coalition that includes Cook Children’s Hospital, the Burleson Fire Department, the City of Burleson and Yogi Bear’s North Texas Jellystone Park Camp-Resort.

Burleson Fire Department personnel will be onsite with drowning prevention materials and will be providing CPR skills training beginning at 8:15 am. To register for the Burleson, Texas, event visit http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=eqbnd7eab&oeidk=a07eg85m387c5130a2b
