Winnebago Industries Inc.’s Forest City and Charles City, Iowa, locations recently received safety awards from the Iowa-Illinois Safety Council (IISC) at the 59th Annual Professional Development Conference and Expo held in Dubuque, Iowa, April 25-27. According to a news release, the awards were presented for outstanding achievement in accident prevention for the 2011 calendar year.

Winnebago was one of more than 170 businesses, industries and government agencies in Iowa and Illinois to receive an award for promoting active safety programs and reducing Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable injuries among their employees. To qualify for this award, applicants had to demonstrate an incident rate lower than the national average for their specific industry.

As recipient of these awards, Winnebago’s Forest City and Charles City locations achieved an incident rate that was equal to or better than the national average for their North American Industry Classification System category. The Charles City Assembly Facility achieved a zero incident rate in 2011, and was one of only 67 IISC member facilities to do so in 2011.

“We are pleased to be recognized for our safety improvement efforts and are very proud of all our employees at our Forest City and Charles City locations in earning these awards,” said Winnebago Vice President of Manufacturing Daryl Krieger. “Safety continues to be a top priority at Winnebago Industries as we strive to safeguard our valued employees while manufacturing the highest quality and most recognized motorhomes in the industry.”
