Wild Horses

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

Bring your binoculars for an up-close view when visiting this area of Wyoming, because you’ll no doubt find yourself before bands of wild horses. The White Mountain Horse Herd is managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and the population can increase as much as 40 percent in a good year. Wild horses have no natural predators other than the occasional mountain lion. The Wyoming population of wild horses is around 6,000 — 2,500 of which roam the Rock Springs District traversed by the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Loop Tour.
