Unwind and Recharge in Corpus Christi, TX

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Escape the snow and ice this month and head to the Texas coast. Enjoy the sun in Corpus Christi, where sea breezes and outdoor activities combine for a great vacation.

After your arrival take a leisurely stroll through the South Texas Botanical Garden & Nature Center; you’ll find yourself surrounded by an oasis of lush tropical flora.

Immerse yourself in history by touring the U.S.S. Lexington Museum on the Bay, a WWII Essex Class aircraft carrier that houses interactive exhibits and period artifacts. Many of the museum volunteers actually served aboard the Lexington in the Pacific theater.

Head down the street to the Texas State Aquarium to see colorful creatures native to the region and learn about conservation efforts. Marvel at the dolphins, river otters, sand tiger sharks, and other exhibits from a safe distance; then get your hands wet at the touch pool, where you can touch live sharks and stingrays!

Grab the sunscreen and a picnic lunch before you venture over to the beaches of Padre Island National Seashore and Mustang Island State Park. From beachcombing and swimming to fishing and birding, these parks have something for every interest.

The visitor’s bureau has information and coupons to help you plan your trip to Corpus Christi. Staying at the Puerto Del Sol RV Park will put you right down the street from many attractions on Corpus Christi Bay. Check out the Trailer Life Directory for information about other Good Sam Parks in Corpus Christi.
