Travelmaster 30′

The 30-foot 295SL2 is one of four new slideout models in Shasta’s Travelmaster Class C
motorhome line. The Travelmaster is at the top end of a lineup that includes the Sprite and
Cheyenne motorhomes, and, according to Shasta, the slideouts “enhance living space
dramatically.” Buyers can choose between 10 models and floorplans in this series. Built on
a Ford chassis with a 14,050-pound gross vehicle weight rating (gvwr), the 295 features a
dual-slideout floorplan. Up front, a streetside sofa bed is housed in a slideout opposite a
fixed dinette, and, in back, another streetside slideout moves the master bed out for
walk-around clearance and access to the curbside wardrobe. There’s a traditional cabover
bed up front, and the galley and bathroom can be found midcoach, open to the rear bedroom.

“Travelmaster is the luxury motorhome in our mini lineup,” says Robert J. Adasiak, Shasta
president. “High-end features, widebody styling and super slideouts offer the livability
and elegance of a Class A combined with the drivability and practicality of a Class C.”
Ford’s chassis includes power door locks and power windows, which are standard features on the Travelmaster, as are a power step and heated remote-control mirrors. Outside, the
Travelmaster features smooth fiberglass side walls, an EPDM rubber roof and a new aft-end
molded fiberglass end cap. The floor, side walls and roof are built using vacuum-lamination
construction techniques; the side walls and roof use aluminum framing and polystyrene
insulation, and the floor is framed with wood. Rack-style gear mechanisms power the
slideouts. Inside, the coach features solid-oak drawers and cabinet doors, oak-plank
kitchen flooring, Ozite soft-touch ceiling fabric, camelback dinette cushions, high-grade
fabric with matching upholstery and window-trim lambrequins, etched glass in
overhead-cabinet doors, a double-door refrigerator, a carousel microwave oven and
wood-grain bevel-edge countertops. Extra storage compartments are a selling point of the
new motorhome, and include pass-through, basement-style storage plus side compartments and storage units that move out with the slideout rooms. Likewise, the underbed area is also accessible for storage. Fluid capacities for this coach include 45 gallons of fresh water, 35 and 32 gallons of gray and black water, respectively, and 55 gallons of fuel. The approximate manufacturer’s unloaded vehicle weight for the 30-footer is 11,180 pounds, which leaves an approximate 2,870-pound payload capacity before adding the weight of water, propane, options, passengers and supplies.

Shasta outfits the Travelmaster with a long list of standard features, but buyers can choose from an extensive selection of options, including a residential-style home-theater sound system with a 25-inch stereo television, a stereo VCR with an upgraded speaker system, a MOR/ryde rear suspension and an AC generator, among other items. The Travelmaster 295SL2 is priced at $71,477 suggested retail, nicely equipped, and is available at Shasta dealers nationwide. Article by: Jeff Johnston
