authoritative guide invaluable. After an excellent 60-page introduction
into all things northward, the guide presents the route in “destination
chapters,” each segmented into smaller entries that correspond to small
area maps that pepper the pages. The entries include local attractions,
and are followed by exhaustive information on local campgrounds and RV
parks.
The guide mostly follows the route of the Alaska Highway, which
begins in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, some 817 miles north of
Seattle, and meanders northwest to Fairbanks, before circling down to
Anchorage. However, the Churches also veer onto the Klondike Loop at
Whitehorse, to include a number of sights in the Yukon (not the least of
which is the Gaslight Follies at Dawson City’s Palace Grand Theater).
