Having established a reputation as a builder of highline diesel motorhomes, Travel Supreme has recently turned its attention to the more affordable segment of the diesel-pusher market. Its new Envoy line begins at $184,950 for the 36-foot model – although, like anything else, larger renditions with more options will swell the price. The company’s
top-of-the-line Envoy is model 38DS04, a 38-footer that features four slideouts. “The Envoy will begin its production life as a 2005 model,” remarked Glenn Troyer, company president.
“It’s not really a low-end unit, but rather what might be considered a medium-priced
product. In actuality, it’s targeted directly at the 38-foot niche, which is currently the
market we are after.” Troyer further explained that quad-slides are becoming very popular
in today’s market; as such, his company’s 38DS04 floorplan should become one of Travel
Supreme’s bestsellers. “One of the most noteworthy aspects that we have focused on with
this layout is the enhancement of long-term livability,” Troyer revealed. “We have built in
many features – such as desk areas, generous wardrobe spaces, entertainment packages,
sizable bathrooms and extensive cargo capacity – to support this concept. We have tried to
carry on the same emphasis that we build into our higher-end coaches, which is to create a
product with optimum extended-living capabilities, rather than traveling units that are
just used occasionally.” With opposing double slides fore-and-aft, the 38DS04 offers
expansive livability in both its front living room/galley area and the rear bedroom suite
(which also includes a spacious closet and room for an optional washer/dryer). The
walk-through bathroom, between the galley and bedroom, likewise provides optimal
convenience and privacy with a 36-inch corner shower, two wash basins and a separate toilet
enclosure. Four décor choices dress up the interior of the unit and a selection of oak
(standard) or three optional wood finishes is available for cabinetry and trim. Ceramic
tile flooring is found in the bathroom and galley areas, while solid surface countertops
are employed throughout. Coachwork on the Envoy consists of an aluminum-frame
superstructure. Sidewalls are pressure-laminated, with a core of foam insulation and
gel-coated fiberglass exterior surfaces. The roof is 3/8-inch plywood decking capped by a
layer of vinyl; buyers can opt for a full-body, automotive-style paint scheme. For the
automotive component in this motorhome, Travel Supreme has chosen the Spartan Mountain
Master raised-rail chassis. Not only does this platform sport a Caterpillar 7.2l, 350-hp
engine, it also has a net cargo-carrying capacity of more than 4,000 pounds, according to
company sources. Access to the motorhome’s basement storage compartments has been
streamlined by the addition of side-hinged cargo doors for ease of loading and unloading.
Coupled with two complete pass-through bays and slideout cargo trays, packing this unit for
a long tour of duty should be a breeze.
