The Louisville Slugger Museum

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

The Louisville Slugger, as much a part of baseball as peanuts and
Cracker Jack, has its own museum dedicated to baseball’s greatest hits
and hitters.

Marking the entrance to the Louisville Slugger Museum in downtown
Louisville, Kentucky, is the world’s largest baseball bat, standing 120
feet tall and weighing in at 68,000 pounds. The Big Bat is an
exact-scale replica of Babe Ruth’s 34-inch Louisville Slugger.

Inside, see the actual bats swung by legendary sluggers such as
Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Henry Aaron; share a dugout with
Casey Stengel and Mickey Mantle; and watch Ted Williams select the
perfect bat from the plant.

After visiting the museum, take a guided tour of the factory
and follow the bat production process from a block of wood to a
meticulously crafted Louisville Slugger. Each visitor receives a free
miniature souvenir bat with the plant tour.
